Please could you continue to remind clubs of our Drought guidance (attached) and also signpost them to our website pages where more support is available including an irrigation risk assessment which helps clubs identify if their grounds are fit and safe to play on during this time. The web address is

The primary responsibility of a ground being declared fit for play sits with those who are responsible for grounds maintenance (the club) and secondly the umpires should also be satisfied the pitches pose no risk to players (actual playing surface and outfield).

It might be you wish to support your clubs in this decision making with the deployment of your County Pitch Advisor and where required I am sure Julian our Regional PA will be able to offer your CPA support in this matter

It may also be worthwhile to make your leagues aware of this risk / guidance documentation as more incidences of matches being cancelled may occur if this weather continues and drought restriction orders are enforced within parts of the UK
