Several clubs have enquired regarding player eligibility rules for the remainder of the season, as the usual rules which apply after the third Saturday in August are not currently in effect.
The LMC has endeavoured to be as flexible and helpful as possible to clubs during what has been a difficult season for all concerned. However, throughout the season, the LMC has taken a firm stance against teams that have been in breach of ‘The Spirit of Cricket’ or have infringed League or Competition rules. Therefore, the following matters will be investigated and dealt with accordingly:
1) Players that play for clubs within the Nottinghamshire Premier League and have not played within the BDCL during the 2020 season.
2) Players that have represented a higher team at their club but have not represented a lower team during the season.
3) Clubs registering players from clubs outside the BDCL due to their season having ended.
4) Clubs that appear to be artificially inflating a team.
It should therefore be accepted that any team competing in a league fixture should comprise the players that they would normally expect to play.
For the sake of clarity, should it be judged that any player is in breach of the above criteria, they will be deemed as ineligible and the result from the fixture concerned will be overturned if necessary.
Should any club need an eligibility check regarding the status of any of their players, they should send the relevant details to match.admin@bdcl.org.uk, ideally 48 hours before the day of the match.
