The National Vitality plate competition was run for the first time in 2021 which constituted non-ECB Premier League clubs from around the country.
Notts & Arnold Amateur C.C. represented The Bassetlaw & District Cricket League following their narrow victory over Welbeck C.C. in the final of the John J. Mallen t20 Cup Competition.
NAACC made a good start in Round 1 beating Aston Hall (Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League) by five wickets. Aston Hall posted a challenging total of 162 for 5 wickets but on a good batting wicket and fast outfield NAACC passed this total with eleven balls to spare thanks mainly to a fourth wicket partnership of 87 between Jack Taylor (43*) and Jordan Sergeant (55).
The North region final day was held at Elescar C.C. After losing the toss in the semi-final match against Croston (Moore & Smalley Palace Shield Competition) and being put in to bat NAACC made a match winning total of 214 for 9 wickets, Alex Scott (72) and Jack Taylor (43) being the main contributors. Croston lost wickets at regular intervals and finished all out for 93 after 18.3 overs.
The final v Quatt C.C. (Shropshire County Cricket League) was abandoned due to rain and replayed a week later at Lullington Park C.C. (Derbyshire County Cricket League), the location being roughly equidistant from the two clubs involved. Batting first NAACC struggled against bowling of a high standard and the total of 119 for 9 wickets always looked twenty runs below par on a wicket which gave help to the bowlers. Quatt C.C. made a good start and scored the winning runs with five wickets and 2.3 overs to spare.
Quatt C.C. now play against the winners of the South region, Pershore C.C. (Worcestershire County League) in the National final at Northants C.C.C. ground on Sunday 19th September. All of the results from the Plate competition can be found on Play-Cricket at:
